The Building
2008 Freeman Ave
Cincinnati, OH 45214
Rehearsal and Workshop Space
The upper-floor of the building is being outfitted as a rehearsal and group workshop space. A 20′x30′ practice area suitable for rehearsals, classes, events, and performances will occupy one side, featuring finished wood and bamboo flooring and mirrored walls. The other side will have a kitchen, a bathroom, and a conversation and sitting area for a small to medium sized group. A boxing and martial arts training area is also planned. The upstairs will also have storage bays and a storage room available for projects in progress and rehearsal gear.
Community Indoor Studio, Shop Space, and Dark Room
The downstairs of the KOIpound will feature an open community studio space with 2 large opening bay doors. This area will be ideal for painting and small sculpture or building projects. Members of the KOIpound will also have the option, for an additional monthly charge, to use our shop for building projects with various saws, planners, sanders, lathes, drills as well as power and manual hand tools. Welders and pneumatic tools are planned.
The downstairs also houses a small dark room for film photography. A kiln has been donated and should be operational soon. An enclosed finishing room with racks and ventilation is also planned.
Courtyard
The KOIpound has a large outdoor courtyard, bordered on three sides by our buildings and on the fourth side by a 8′ metal privacy fence. The courtyard is suitable for outdoor practices, such as fire spinning or larger dance groups. A small lounge is set up off to the side of the courtyard under the large sheltered area. The lounge is great for small parties or events. The courtyard also has a fire pit.
The outdoor area of the KOIpound also has a large sheltered area suitable for working on large building projects, sculpture, art cars, etc. as well as storage of props or materials. Large projects such as art cars or sculpture may be worked on in the courtyard as well, pending group approval.
